Infectious Complications in the Critically Ill Patient With Cancer
Infectious complications in patients with neoplastic disease may result in significant morbidity and mortality. Clinical oncologists and infectious disease specialists recognize the emergent nature of these infections in the critically ill patient with cancer. A clear understanding of these infections and the circumstances in which they occur is essential. Fever, neutropenia, pneumonia, CNS infections, and GI tract infections are all discussed in this review.
