The Mark of the Beast - 666
In order to understand The Mark of the Beast, we must begin in the Book of Revelation for the operative scriptures pertaining to the Beast and his mark.
It is obvious that the beast here refers to a part of the nature of its ruler Satan, who attempts to rule the world and foil the plan of Christ.
Revelation 13:15-18 says: "And it was given to him [the Beast] to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed".
This scripture reminds one of the temptations of Christ in the wilderness.
Satan shows Him everything in the world and offers it to Him on only one condition: that He fall down and worship him.
Satan has desired worship from the beginning.
Isaiah 14:13-14 God says of Satan: "But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north.
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.
" The beast that came out of the sea of humanity was the culmination of His plan.
Revelation goes on: "And he [the beast] causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name".
Satan here has decided that in order to complete his lordship over mankind he must control the economic system, both the buyer and the seller.
By obtaining this control he is able to make materialistic man his unwitting instruments in carrying out his plan.
Since the love of money is the root of all evil, it is the root of Satan the evil one.
In Sodom and Gomorrah during Abraham's time, right up to their destruction, they were first buying and selling.
Trade has been a most important function of society since the very beginning of time.
To control trade is to strangle the people.
Most wars, at their root, were fought over economic issues.
Today groups such as the Tri-Lateral Commission and the Illuminati have planned for centuries to control man by controlling world finances.
So what is this mark and what does it mean? It seems that this mark is of the indelible nature, actually imprinted in his flesh and by logical progression his nature.
It represents a complete giving over of the human nature to the evil one.
This mark is described as: "Here is wisdom.
Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six" (v 18).
John, the author of Revelation, says that the meaning of this mark is understandable to him who has wisdom and understanding; in other words revelation from God.
Six, in Christian numerology, is the number of man.
Seven is the number of God.
Scripture says man was made for a little while lower than the angels (Hebrews 2:7; Psalm 8:5-6).
So six, man, is beneath seven, God.
This number of the beast, which is the same as his name, contains three sixes.
God has a triune (3-part) nature-Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Man has a triune nature-spirit, soul and body.
Three is the number of completeness.
So as God and man are complete by these 3-part expressions of themselves, Satan brings forth, as an insult to the trinity, his three-fold nature.
These are the three parts of him revealed in Revelation: the Beast, the false prophet and the anti-Christ.
The beast represents the nations and Kings of the world.
The false prophet speaks blasphemous things against the Lord.
And the anti-Christ is the spirit that denies Christ.
The scripture says that a three-fold cord is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12; Isaiah 19:18; 2 Kings 3:6).
Thus, with the three parts of his nature revealed and bound together, Satan reveals the final culmination of his plan for the earth.
Of course he is eventually banished into eternal hell along with his false prophet, beast and anti-Christ.
In the end, he is seen as just a man.
"Those who see you will gaze at you, They will ponder over you, saying, 'Is this the MAN who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms, Who made the world like a wilderness And overthrew its cities, Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?" (Isaiah 14:16-17).
