5 Tips For Web Design

105 1
These are pretty general tips for web design, I suppose its a good idea to memorise and implement as standard when you're creating your web sites. 1. This really is still a key issue. While broadband is a lot quicker than in the 'old' days, it still isn't instant and some website are huge! Some however fail because of JavaScript issues or other server problems. The best thing to do is try to keep your CSS sheets smaller, don't use large imagery - keep the file size and the canvas size down, check with your server administrator for issues. 2. In most cases I would try to keep the pages shorter on content. Not too short but not too long - some sites throw in SEO text and this is awful to view if you're the reader and not a robot! 3. Navigation, this is very important...quite obvious really but you will be surprised with some sites out there - I've come across some sites where the only way to know what's on the next page is by rolling over the link...don't be trying to make the viewer interact by having to guess their way around!4. Keep your links current, have a mooch around your website for dead or old links and get the cleaner out! 5. My favourite; Write for the viewer/reader NOT Google. Although you may move up the rankings by stuffing keywords and writing nonsense other than to flirt with Google you WILL in the end be penalised...not a good thing and I've seen how it affects businesses. If you want to SEO your site go to Googles Advice Pages and soak up the info there, then learn how to use White Hat techniques and avoid the Black Hat direction - its trouble. So that's that, a few things to think about when you start creating your websites. For a budget website you can try some free website creators - these are good to practise on and get familiar - I will go into more detail on my next post.
