How to Plan A Fun Western Theme Party

    • 1). Make western-themed party invitations. Make a "Wanted" poster as your invitation, complete with party details and a picture of an Old West criminal. Write on the top, "Wanted: Your Presence at our Party." Roll them up and deliver them. Another option is to create invitations out of bandannas by writing the party information in marker or fabric paint.

    • 2). Decorate your party room to look like a saloon in the Old West. Hang a bead curtain in the doorway. Paint pictures of green cacti and hang them on the walls. Get a red and white gingham table cloth. Hang wanted posters around the room. Place bales of hay around if it is an outdoor party. Put up Old West signs such as "No guns allowed" or "No spitting or chewing."

    • 3). Plan a menu of western-themed food and drinks. Barbecue hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken or ribs. Serve corn on the cob, coleslaw and baked beans as side dishes. Have cornbread or salsa and chips for guests to munch on. Serve root beer, ginger ale and lemon-lime soda in large mugs or shot glasses. For an adult party, serve margaritas, margarita shots and other whiskey or tequila drinks.

    • 4). Prepare for some western-themed games. Have a watermelon-seed-spitting contest outside. Bob for apples in a tub of water. Fill a two-liter bottle with sand. Make a lasso out of rope and have guests take turns trying to lasso the bottle. Hang a pinata and have guests try to hit it open while blindfolded. For an adult party, see who can come up with the best western-inspired insult.
