In order to understand the real benefits of deriving success from an online business its important that we take one step back and firstly assess the pitfalls. For years now we have been sold the story of why an online business is so important to our freedom and to us obtaining our dream life. Prior to the internet world the only viable options for serious wealth creation were real estate and the share market which have both produced many a millionaire - particularly real estate investing which I am a great advocate of, but that's a whole other story - the intent of this article is to discuss online business.

Many of us have been sold a traditional selling model in the past where you become a part of a "downline" in a multi level marketing business and you set out to make a list of every man and his dog you know, starting with family and friends, then onto work colleagues, friends of friends and the list goes on and on and on. This is the reason that most people hate to sell... and fail, this model conjures up anxious feelings, memories of rejection, attempting to sell to people who quite frankly do not want to be sold to. However most often you will push forward as you recall that one person you know who has had success with this model and push through the humiliation.

This can be the case with online businesses (as well as offline) so you need to weigh up and choose carefully. If the traditional selling model is comfortable for you then stick to it, if it isn't then seeking out an online business that has a system in place, a turnkey system, is becoming the way of the future. A number of online companies these days offer 'no selling" but that's not the secret.

The secret is in branding (or selling) yourself, not your business or product. People want to do business with people these days, most are looking for good strong leadership so they don't have to make their way through the jungle on their own and well, why re-invent the wheel when there is a proven system that works - just duplicate it - makes sense doesn't it. Mind you it doesn't run itself, so you have to be ready and willing to treat your business like a business, to work at it - to build your marketing muscle and employ discipline.

I am a very strong believer (from experience) that it is very wise to align yourself with someone that is going to support and assist you along the way - because the road can be daunting on your own - a lonely place without a leader, a team and a network in place.
