How to Kill Pasture Weeds by Mowing

    • 1). Plan your mowing schedule: to get rid of the crops effectively, you need to mow regularly. Use a calendar to mark the days when you will perform a good mow of the pasture.

    • 2). Mow the pasture every two weeks throughout the summer period. Weeds grow quickly and strongly, and this will help stop them from spreading as it limits the extent of their growth in the pasture.

    • 3). Cut back the pasture grass when it is between three and four inches in height. Mowing at this point reduces the opportunity for weeds to grow.

    • 4). Trim the edges of the pasture to remove weeds that cannot be reached with a mower. Use a grass trimmer to do this after you have used the actual mower so you perform the operation on the same day.

    • 5). Rake the weeds and grass that you cut back in the pastures, and recycle the green waste in a compost heap. This prevents weeds re-rooting in the soil.

    • 6). Perform a seeding of the pasture toward the end of the summer period. The sprouting seeds will take nutrients away from the weeds, and help destroy them.
