How to Drill Screws
- 1). Hold a drill bit in front of the screw. Select a larger drill bit if you can see the body of the screw; you have the correctly sized bit when you can't see the screw. Insert the bit in the drill.
- 2). Press the bit against the surface while squeezing the drill trigger to drill the pilot hole. Push the drill's reverse button to back the bit from the hole. Push the reverse button to switch back to drive mode.
- 3). Replace the bit with a screwdriver bit. Place the bit into the slot in the head of the screw.
- 4). Squeeze the drill trigger to drive the screw. Stop when the head of the screw is flush with the surface (wood, metal, plastic, etc.).
