How to Use Two VoIP Providers at Once
- 1). Visit the IP Phones page on the homepage of MyVoIPProvider.com to find an IP phone that will allow you to program more than one VoIP account. MyVoIPProvider.com is an independent online community that provides valuable information to VoIP users by comparing various VoIP services and technologies. One of the advantages of using MyVoIPProvider.com is that it does not vouch for any particular VoIP product or service. MyVoIPProvider.com simply provides a platform wherein VoIP users can have access to a wide range of information about VoIP products and services.
- 2). Compare various IP phones on the IP phones page, and choose an IP phone that can program two or more VoIP accounts.
To know if an IP phone can program more than one VoIP provider, the IP phone must explicitly state that it has this capability. If an IP phone does not mention having two or more lines, assume that the IP phone can only support one VoIP provider account. - 3). Click on the "View Details" button in red located directly below the picture of the two-line IP phone you have selected to read more about the specific device. Be sure to read the information about the device as closely as possible, and make sure the device meets your needs.
- 4). Purchase the IP phone by clicking on the "Buy Now" button, which redirects you to a third-party retailer.
Note that even though there is a "Buy Now" button on the MyVoIPProvider.com page, the website does not sell any products or services.
Also, you do not have to purchase a particular device from the retailer you are redirected to; you can copy of the name of the device and purchase it elsewhere. - 5). Connect the IP phone, upon receiving it, to your local area network, and then program the IP phone to two VoIP provider accounts.
Programming an IP phone may vary from one device to another. Please follow the specific instructions that come with the device. Nonetheless, in order to program two VoIP providers with an IP phone that has this capability, you will need to provide your credentials for your VoIP providers, such as your username or SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) number, password and the server address for the VoIP provider, which is usually a website address.
Once you have configured your IP phone correctly, and provided the correct credentials for your VoIP providers, you will be able to interchangeably use the VoIP providers in making and receiving phone calls.
A SIP is a powerful protocol used by most, if not all, VoIP systems in providing VoIP users with various interactive features that are similar to traditional telephone systems, such as call forwarding and caller identification. Most VoIP providers offer SIP numbers to their users. These numbers enable VoIP users to not only use various interactive features, but also to be able to call other VoIP users on the same network free of charge.
