Is there way too much month at the end of the money? Selling things you no longer use or need may be a solution to that problem.

You can sell gold jewelry for either the melt value or the resale value. Melt value is most often offered for broken gold jewelry or gold jewelry that is just out of style.  Well-designed, intact pieces of gold jewelry can be resold to antique shops, offline gold/silver dealers, and jewelry stores for a portion of what they think they can resell it for.

There are several methods for selling gold jewelry, but first you need to make sure that your pieces are marked  either GF or whatever Karat of gold it is (8K, 10K, 12K, 14K, 18K, and 22K). Gold plated pieces are worth nothing for melt value and worth very little for resale value.  If your gold jewelry is marked GP, sell it at a garage sale or wear it yourself.

Now that you know the marking on your pieces are GF or K, you can choose which way to sell your gold jewelry.

If your jewelry is intact and well-designed, try selling it to a jewelry store, high-end secondhand store, or antique store. They will buy it from you for a percentage of what they think they can resell it for.  Don't send these types of pieces to an online gold dealer such as Cash 4 Gold because they will only give you the melt value for it.

If your gold jewelry pieces are broken, damaged, or really out of style, you can sell them for the melt value.  You have a lot of options when this is the case: online gold dealers, offline gold/silver dealer, jewelry stores, some secondhand stores, gold parties, and fly-by-night gold dealers who set up in a local motel or hotel room for a few days will all give you some cash for your gold.

The best choices when selling broken gold jewelry pieces are offline gold dealers and offline jewelry stores.  This is because they have the ability to test and weigh your gold in front of you, and give you cash or a check right away.

Next on the list of choices are the sites like Cash 4 Gold. These sites will send you a prepaid envelope that you use to send your gold to them. They will test and weigh it, then send you a check for what they think your gold is worth. Prices vary widely with these types of online dealers, so research them before you send your gold to them. If you aren't happy with your check, don't cash it and send it back.
