Micro Soldering Instructions
- 1). Turn the butane micro torch upside down. Press the nose of the butane canister against the micro torch's fill hole. Press down and fill the micro torch with butane.
- 2). Clean the items you want to solder with soap and water. Check to be sure there is no grease, dirt, grime or oxidation on the items. Grease, dirt, grime or oxidation will prevent you from soldering. Use acetone to remove grease. Use sandpaper to remove oxidation.
- 3). Place the items you want to solder on a charcoal block or another surface suitable for soldering. Check to be sure the seam is flush. Solder will not fill gaps. Use a third hand or binding wire to secure the seam if gravity will not hold it in place until your soldering is complete.
- 4). Paint the seam you plan to solder with flux.
- 5). Put a small amount of solder at one end of the seam.
- 6). Turn on the micro torch. Use the torch to heat the entire surface of your metal piece. Run the flame over the seam, beginning at the spot where you placed the solder, once the solder begins to flow.
- 7). Check the seam to be sure it is fully soldered. Allow the item to cool to room temperature, then complete the fabrication of your item.
