As we stated previously, Jesus is the perfect example of working and taking action now. He said, €I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work (John 9:4).€ What can you learn from Jesus' words that apply to your business, career, or calling? Well, there are four (4) simple, but profound points of application you can glean from this passage that can transform your thinking.

First, Jesus says, I must work. Our Lord showed throughout his living and by his words that he was clear on who was RESPONSIBLE for his success in completing his mission He says, €I must work.€ This is so simple that most Christians miss the profound lesson here. If you are still blaming your boss, your circumstances, the economy, your staff, your teammates, your customers, or anything or anyone else, for your lack of results, then you need to meditate upon this truth. Nothing will happen for me unless I engage myself in the process and take full responsibility for the outcome. In Phil. 2:12, 13 the Apostle Paul says to the Church in Philippi €€¦Work out your salvation, with fear and trembling€¦€Notice how he holds them responsible for their own spiritual success? Though the rest of the text says €€¦it is God who is working in you€, both of these things are true at the same time. God works! And you must work! Notice it doesn't say God is working FOR you. But IN you. God will not:

Read the Scriptures for you
Go to Church for you
Pray for you (well Jesus does pray for you, but you know what I mean)
If you don't work, God won't! Some of you will disagree with this now. But that is why you are not seeing change even though you have committed to Live Recession Proof Now!Stop waiting for someone else to do what you know you should do. You shirk your responsibility onto someone else. Someone else needs to provide the money, the information, the resources, or support. No they don't! You MUST TAKE ACTION now and God will provide all you need!

The second thing we learn from Jesus' words is that He worked with such resolve and inner commitment (self-motivation) because he knew he was ON A MISSION. Note his words; he says€I must work the works of Him who sent me€¦€ There is nothing more empowering to the child of God than knowing that the work you do, the business you started, the ministry you planted or run from day to day, is a mission given to you by God. You will never accomplish success from God's perspective, without embracing the Biblical idea, that everything you do should be approached as a mission or task from the Lord. To be successful in God's economy you have to work with the consciousness that I am managing God's business (stewardship).

At times you need to feel obligated to do something because it is expected of you! Have you ever had to do something you didn't feel like doing because a customer expected it? Or because you made a promise that you knew you had to keep? Jesus was on a mission from God that he took responsibility to finish, even if others forsook or failed him in the process(John 19:30; Matt. 26:56). Christ didn't say the Father must work or someone else must do it for Him. He didn't quit when others refused to support Him. No! He is the one who is doing the work and He is committed to doing it alone, if he must. Why? Because He was responsible to His Father and for others. His mission would impact that life of every human being (Heb. 2:9). Being responsible to, or for others, will make you do things when you don't FEEL like doing them. Like getting up at 4:30 am as a grandfather in your 80's to provide college tuition to your grandson. Sometimes I didn't see my grandfather until late at night. And every day he got up and did it again and again, because he was on a mission to change my.legacy and his.

Sometimes when you lack motivation to TAKE ACTION, you need a coach, mentor or someone you can be accountable to. Or you need to be reminded of WHY you need to take action now. Ask yourself, who or what is relying upon me or needs my mission to be a success? If you want to accomplish more in less time and have more motivation, get a mission! In addition, don't compartmentalize your work, career, or professional task as secular as opposed to spiritual. Work is spiritual. The Bible says that whether we eat, drink, or whatever we do, we should do it all for the glory of God (1 Cor. 10:31). We all have works that God has called us to do. We are to work with our hands and provide for ourselves and those that are weak and unable to work.

Thirdly, Jesus shows URGENCY. He says He must work - not tomorrow, not next year, but while it is day. Now!

Are you waiting for something to change before you take action? Jesus understood that everything he did required urgency. Urgency comes from having a Mission. Mission gives importance and priority to task. Mission changes your TO DO LIST into a MUST DO LIST. I am so thankful for Christ words and example to be urgent in taking action. In addition to Christ, the Bible commands the Christian to €€¦redeem the time.€ To make time count. To not treat time as a commodity. Time can be wasted and is more important than money! But it's not time management skills or training you need. Most teachers on €Time Management€ focus on managing time. But You don't need to learn how to manage time, you need to learn how to rule or manage you!

Successful people understand they need to approach task as urgent. Robert Murray McCheyne said €Lord stamp eternity on my eyelids.€ This man worked as if he would die young. And he did. At 29. You see the same commitment to urgency in the lives of Charles Spurgeon, John Elliot, John Wesley, Jonathan Edwards and multitudes of successful Christian Business Owners and Entrepreneurs. Please don't wait to take action. When you take action God's grace and power will enable you to fulfill the Mission. God is not going to provide your need if you don't put in some sweat equity. According to the Bible, €€¦by the sweat of your brow you shall eat€¦€ (Gen 3:19). And €If a man doesn't work he shall not eat€ (2 Tim 3:10). If you don't give your faith legs, God will keep you right where we are. Yes, He has a way of keeping you where you are, until you learn!

Lastly, Jesus' words, remind us that opportunities don't always last. He says, €I must work (responsibility) the works of him that sent me (mission), while it is day (urgency): the night cometh, when no man can work (limited time/opportunity).€

If you will be committed to taking action now, you need to appreciate that opportunities are often lost. There is limited time to work. Mediate on Proverbs 6:6-9 and notice how the Ant works urgently and diligently as though the opportunity (harvest time) is only for a season. Work while it is day because there will come a day and time when you can't! Take advantage of the season. If you are under 75, for the most part, you are still within your income earning years. Take advantage of your youth. There will come a day when you will not be as strong as you are today. Your hearing and sight will be diminished (Eccl. 12:1-7). Why wait until you can't do more to find a mission and take action? Take action now. This is prudent!
