    General Education Requirements

    • All baccalaureate degree programs at Clemson University require students to complete 34 credits of general education coursework to graduate. Six credits in oral and written communication are necessary as well as three credits of literature coursework. Students must take four credits of natural science with a mandatory laboratory section, three credits of mathematics and an additional three credits in either math or natural sciences. Additional requirements include six credits in social sciences, three in fine arts or humanities, and one three-credit class each in cross-cultural awareness and science and technology in society.

    Pre-Business Courses

    • The College of Business & Behavioral Science requires all business undergraduate students to complete a sequence of pre-business coursework during their freshmen year at Clemson. These courses include two classes in macroeconomics and one class in business foundations. Freshmen must also take an introductory course in psychology or sociology, which fulfills three credits of the social sciences general education requirement. The college also requires that students complete their natural science, mathematics, and science and technology general education credits during their freshmen year.

    Accounting and Financial Management Majors

    • Accounting majors at Clemson must complete 10 classes in the accounting department, including cost accounting and accounting information systems. They must also take classes in business writing, financial management, business law and ethics, marketing and business strategy. Accounting majors then have the option to complete an internship or take coursework in business management during the second semester of their senior year. Financial management majors take six classes in the accounting department as well as classes in financial management, real estate, financial institutions and statistics. Courses in marketing, business ethics and law, strategy and marketing are also necessary.

    Management and Marketing Majors

    • Management undergraduate majors take nine classes in the business management department, including operations management, decision models and international business. Students must also complete coursework in statistics, basic accounting, marketing, business law and finance. The marketing major involves six classes in marketing, such as consumer behavior and market research. Those in the marketing program also take classes in accounting, statistics, basic management, business writing and law and strategy.
