How to Remove Odorous House Ants
- 1). Follow the ants back to their nest. These pests will build their colonies almost anywhere, from the driveway to under your favorite houseplant.
- 2). Spray the nest, if you are able to locate it, with liquid insecticide spray.
- 3). Spray around the perimeter of your home with a liquid insecticide barrier designed to destroy and deter ants.
- 4). Place ant baits throughout the house in areas where you regularly notice the insects. Avoid using cleaners or other types of insecticide near the baits because it may prevent the ants from being drawn to them. Do not kill ants that you see feeding on the baits because the poison must be carried back to the colony in order to work properly.
- 5). Use ant killing gel if the prefilled baits prove unsuccessful.
- 6). Clean any areas where you notice an ant trail with household disinfectant to destroy the pheromones that are attracting the insects.
- 7). Make your home less inviting by eliminating the things that attract odorous house ants. Wipe up spills immediately and clean up crumbs as you notice them. Repair water leaks and seal all cracks around your windows and doors with household caulk.
