Guide Review - Betsy Walker - 'Come By Here'

Come By Here opens with a really cool blues/rock tune called "Church Girl", which I loved! It has a modern touch, but for those who cut their teeth on some of the pioneering greats of yesteryear, there is a "throwback" punch that reminds me of a very passionate vocalist named Janis. This eye-opening tune is followed by "Come By Here," which is a beautifully written piece that comes from a journey of brokenness and tragedy. A surprise came from "Lead Me," which will catch you off balance if you're not careful. It may start out a little slow, but it really builds to a climatic finish. The heartfelt and deeply moving "Your Name" is one of the most beautiful songs that I've heard in some time. Betsy reached really deep both musically and lyrically for this one and her delivery shows it. Even a die-hard metal head like me was moved by this one.

Overall, this CD is filled with great music, a down-to-earth message and a very real expression of a journey through life, with the ups, the downs, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I think that this is just the start of something great for this new artist.
