• Hackers retain their human rights, just as anyone else. In 2009, there was a case in which someone was arrested for a hacking crime committed in the United States. The accused hacker was residing in the United Kingdom when the crime occurred. • Hackers also have a right to personal privacy. This means that when they are arrested and brought to trial, the evidence can only contain information that is directly related to the current crime for which they are being tried. The individual's personal life may not be put on display. Hackers are usually very intelligent people, which is often intriguing to others, but despite their illegal acts and interesting personalities, a hacker still has the right to personal privacy.

Hackers use their skills for a variety of purposes, include theft, espionage, blackmail, etc. As the concern for computer and Internet safety grows, more people are trying to find ways to crack down on hackers. To fight back, hackers are now forming associations and "unions." Hackers stick together. These groups spend a lot of time as defining their rights so as to avoid any legal arrest or imprisonment.
