Embarrassment

• Many times a person blushes because of embarrassment. The person says or does something awkward, or someone says something about him that causes embarrassment. The person then blushes, while everyone else around him laughs. People laugh at the person blushing because they find it funny that the person just embarrassed himself.
  
  

Puppy Love

• Kids with a boyfriend or girlfriend often blush when friends ask about their relationship. Their friends laugh at the blushing child as a way of ridiculing the child's discomfort at the mention of the puppy-love crush.
  
  

Nervousness

• When a person is nervous or scared, she may blush. For example, if a teenager walks into a crowded room filled with people who all know each other, the teenager blushes from the nervousness of knowing no one. Other kids around the room laugh at the teenager because she is nervous. Laughing often takes place at another's expense; the teenagers laugh at the blushing because they are making fun of the nervous kid.
