How Do You Do A Kickflip
Before trying anything below, you should get your pads on. Hitting your head without a helmet on is no fun. Always wear your pads, and your helmet.
I must also say this disclaimer before I continue: Its not my fault if you get hurt while skating! You know the risks, and you should protect yourself from them by being cautious and using your safety equipment.
Now that the legal mumbo jumbo is through, youre ready to try doing a kickflip. If you havent already figured it out, youll need to be able to ollie before doing a kickflip.
If you cant already ollie, I suggest reading a tutorial online or asking a friend to teach you. It will be very difficult to perform any trick without first knowing the basic ollie, so learn up and then come back to read more.
Now youre ready to do a kickflip. Get your skateboard out, and do a few ollies to prepare yourself. Once youre prepared, put your back foot on the tail of the deck and then place your front foot on the middle of the deck, with your heel hanging off about 3 or 4 inches.
You should be feeling pretty good right now. This footing is the best (in my opinion) for performing a kickflip. Having your heel hang off should give you the ability to spin the deck with some good speed.
Ollie, and then flick your foot to the right or left, depending on your stance on the board. If youre goofy, flick your foot to the right. If youre regular, flick your foot to the left.
While youre in the air, your board should do one spin underneath you and then hit the ground on all four wheels. Of course, it wont work out this way at first.
One problem with the kickflip is that its majorly skill based. The only way to really get people to learn it is to teach them the basic foot positioning, and then let them have at it. Its nearly impossible to teach a skater how to actually land a kickflip; but its easy to teach them to get it started.
Just practice, practice, practice. Sooner or later, youre bound to land a kickflip. Remember: This trick is all about timing. If you keep practicing your timing, you will land a kick flip.
Dont forget to wear your safety gear, and keep practicing! Dont get frustrated and give up if you dont land a kickflip the first time; thats impossible.
