Work at Home Ideas for Christian Mothers

104 4
    • A stay-at-home Christian mother is in a unique situation, as it is her first priority to care for her children, but the family may also need her to bring in some extra income. But it's not impossible, and might even be easier than you think. Christian moms who work at home have lots of options for fulfilling and good-paying work that helps support and raise their family.

    Telecommuting

    • Telecommuting is a way to do the same work you would do in the workplace or office from your home office, and usually requires work experience, good networking within your field, and good Internet and phone plans. This type of work can vary from full-time to part-time, and also varies depending on your career field, such as administrative, secretarial, data entry, customer service, marketing or sales.

    Direct Sales

    • This category of job includes selling for many well-known home party companies. This is ideal for many stay-at-home moms because they can work only when they need to, and can earn as much as they have time to. However, income from direct sales isn't guaranteed and may require a lot of initial time and effort for little initial reward. Once you build up a business, however, this becomes a viable income for many moms.

    Writing

    • Freelance online writing is a growing field that allows many work-from-home moms to have a flexible schedule. You may sign up with a content provider company such as Associated Content, About.com, or Demand Media, or you can go solo and bid on freelance jobs on sites such as Elance or Guru. There are also specialty sites that may need particular expertise from a Christian mother, such as spiritual or parenting sites.

    Photography

    • Photography is often a popular hobby for Christian mothers, who find they can celebrate the wonders of nature and home with this pastime. You can turn this hobby into a side business by selling photos to stock photography companies such as iStockPhotos, Getty Images, and many other stock photo providers. You may be paid a set amount for the rights to each photo, or you may choose to retain copyright and sell your own photos one at a time, although the latter choice requires more business savvy and probably a Web site.

    Crafts

    • There are many arts and crafts business opportunities geared toward Christian work-at-home mothers, but check with the Better Business Bureau or the Small Business Administration before signing on to make Christian jewelry or crafts at home. Some companies are honest and good-quality employers, while others take advantage of Christian moms who want to work from home by paying them only a few cents per craft item. Another option for crafters is to sign up with Etsy.com and sell your own crafts through a shop you create.
