Hi! I would like to talk about about energy and global warming.
Pretty broad subject huh? Actually what I want to write about is the energy that goes in your gas tank and mine and what it's doing to our good old planet.
More and more scientists are saying that all this energy we spend drivng around, heating and cooling our homes, and generally trying to make lives easier and more fun for us is slowly making our planet a little more sick every day.
Apart from the fact that it is becoming more scarce and more expensive, all this energy has, through the years, put tons and tons of carbon in the air in the form of carbon dioxide.
This carbon dioxide seems to be responsible for the warming up of the planet as we already see, amongst other things, the polar ice caps melting.
And, from the looks of things, this is just the beginning! But is there anything you and I can do about it? Can we honestly make a difference? Well for starters, if there are enough "You and I's " around, talking about it and trying to find solutions, then maybe, just maybe, we can slowly turn things around.
What I would like to do is to explore with you some things we could do to find inexpensive alternate forms of energy and at the same time do our little part to get all this carbon out of the air and give our good old planet a chance to breath again.
So, hop on! We're in for a great ride of discovery! Who knows? Somewhere along the way, you may be finding yourself saying: "Hey I can do this!" as you realise that you can be part of the solution and not of the problem.
If enough of us manage to find economically viable ways of doing this on a small scale, there will eventually be somebody out there wanting to try to scale up these techniques.
And slowly, this growing bunch of little snowballs rolling down the mountain will turn into an avalanche.
