Along the River Itchen lies an ancient English city: Winchester - Hampshire.
Once an administrative seat with its own castle, tourists now flock to the area for its rich cultural heritage and a chance to admire wildlife along the river walk.

Pop into a purveyor of novelties before treating yourself at a well-stocked merchant of many confections including mints, chocolates and fudge.
A tour of Winchester could start with parking your car at one end of the Itchen River trail, accessed via narrow roads which pass the home where Jane Austen died.
Ramble your way along the trail, over a bridge where anglers may be attempting to catch their lunch, before reaching the bustling city centre.
Your first stop will be the City Mill Museum with its water mill and indoor heritage displays.
Visitors flock to Winchester Cathedral, still standing after more than nine hundred years.
Inside are many medieval carvings, an illuminated bible, and the grave of Jane Austen.
This marker alone attracts many fans of the late great author.
Peruse the many names commemorated inside its stone walls and below stained glass windows and pick out some famous ones you recognize.
Before leaving Winchester take a look at The Great Hall.
This is all that remains of the city castle with its Arthurian Round Table mounted high on a wall.
