Background The great Virginian leader, Richard Henry Lee had proposed American independence resolution in British Assembly during the American Revolution.
The congress voted in the favor of the resolution and on July, 2 1776, British colonies have been separated legally from American colonies.
Soon after the voting in favor of the declaration, Congress began to revise the declaration which was originally proposed by a committee consisting of five members with Thomas Jefferson as a chief author of the declaration.
