IMP Awards published a couple of posters from the upcoming movie "Contraband." The poster designs are by Concept Arts. The crime thriller stars Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Giovanni Ribisa, Ben Foster, Caleb Landry Jones and Diego Luna.

Mark Wahlberg leads the cast of Contraband, a white-knuckle action-thriller about a man trying to stay out of a world he worked hard to leave behind and the family he'll do anything to protect. Set in New Orleans, the film explores the cutthroat underground world of international smuggling-full of desperate criminals and corrupt officials, high-stakes and big payoffs-where loyalty rarely exists and death is one wrong turn away.

Chris Farraday (Wahlberg) long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi), Chris is forced back into doing what he does best-running contraband-to settle Andy's debt. Chris is a legendary smuggler and quickly assembles a crew with the help of his best friend, Sebastian (Ben Foster), to head to Panama and return with millions in counterfeit bills. Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops and hit men before his wife, Kate (Kate Beckinsale), and sons become their target.

Guy is a criminal. Guys cleans up his act, goes legit and starts a family. Guys gets pulled back in because someone in his family screwed up. Guy wages war on perps when things go sour. We've seen the premise many times before so there isn't much to get excited about for Universal Pictures' Contraband. The trailer, below, has all the mainstays of the genre, so hopefully Wahlberg and Beckinsale can spice things up to make this a must see thriller.

Less stylish than The Spy in Black, this espionage thriller is more fun, with its tongue-in-cheek plot revelling in Hitchcockian eccentricities. Making atmospheric use of London under the blackout (including a tout hawking electric torches and gas mask cases at Victoria Station), it has its German agents operating from a warehouse packed with patriotic busts of Neville Chamberlain, while hero and heroine tour a series of bizarre nightclubs before rounding up the villains with enthusiastic help from a posse of Danish waiters and carousing rugby players picked up en route. Minor by Powell & Pressburger standards, but most enjoyable.

Kate Beckinsale is reportedly in talks to star in Contraband, the English language adaptation of the 2008 Icelandic movie Reykjavic-Rotterdam, alongside Mark Wahlberg. The original film featured Baltasar Kormakur as a former smuggler who works as a night guard and is dragged in for one more job in his former shady profession when his life is threatened after his brother-in-law botches a smuggling run. Bekinsale and Wahlberg have not commented on the report by Deadline.com, which did not detail the actress' role. Both actors are listed on a preliminary casting list.

Beckinsale, a 37-year-old British actress, is known for the Underworld vampire films, including a fourth one due on Jan. 20, 2012, as well as movies such as Pearl Harbor and Van Helsing. Wahlberg can next be seen in The Fighter, in which he plays real-life underdog boxer Micky Ward.
