    • 1). Blot the area containing cat urine, if the urine is still wet, with an old, large towel or rag to absorb the waste. Wear rubber gloves to keep the urine off of your hands. If the cat urine is dry, skip to Step 3.

    • 2). Rinse out the towel or rag under warm running water, wring out excess, and continue blotting the area until the urine is gone.

    • 3). Mix 1/3 cup of white vinegar, 2/3 cup of warm water, and 1 tbsp. of dish-washing soap in a pot or plastic container. Stir the solution with a spoon.

    • 4). Dip a clean cloth or rag into the solution then apply the cloth or rag to the area where the urine was. Saturate the area with the solution.

    • 5). Press a dry cloth or rag into the area to absorb as much of the solution as possible. Wring out the cloth or rag and repeat step until the area is dry.

    • 6). Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on the area to neutralize the urine odor. Let the baking soda stand for 24 hours. Vacuum the area with your vacuum cleaner's brush or crevice attachment.

    • 7). Empty your vacuum cleaner's bag or waste receptacle into a trash bag. Dispose of the bag in your home's outdoor trash can.
