    • 1). Slide the blade of the chef's knife into a whole onion. Slide the blade far enough into the onion to reach the rust.

    • 2). Leave the blade in the onion for approximately one hour to allow the onion juices to dissolve the rust. Move the blade back and forth inside of the onion every 15 minutes to saturate the blade with onion juice.

    • 3). Remove the blade from the onion and inspect. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 if the rust is not completely gone. Wash and dry the knife when all rust is removed.
