    Hosts

    • In the past, the maid of honor hosted bridal showers, with the bridesmaids helping to plan the shower. In the 21st century, however, close friends of the bride host showers as well. Family members should not host a bridal shower.

    Favors

    • The host gives favors to guests as they leave as a way to thank them for attending. They do not have to be large, but a token of appreciation is always a nice gesture.

    Who Pays for Favors?

    • Traditionally, the host would pay for the favors. When there is not one clear host, but instead a group of people throwing the shower, it is acceptable for the group to split the cost of the favors.

    Types of Favors

    • Favors should go along with the theme, if there is one. If it is a kitchen shower, pass out kitchen utensils. If the shower reflects an obvious color scheme, pass out candles in the same colors.

    Tags on the Favors

    • Add a tag to the favor, especially if it is wrapped. Simply put the bride's name, along with the date of the shower. If you want, you can put something special about the bride or a note from the bride.
