How to Repaint the Inside of a Camper
- 1). Remove drapes, fabrics and other small, loose items from the interior of the camper. Cover tables, cabinets, beds and the other fixtures that you cannot remove with plastic tarps and tape them down so they don't move when you are working. Clean the walls using soap and water. When they're dry, use fine-grade sandpaper to remove the gloss layer of the siding. If you do not do this, the paint won't adhere to the wall. Remove any dust that remains. Lay drop cloths on the floor of the camper. Taking the time to prepare your workspace will make the actual job of painting easier.
- 2). Start in the corners of the camper and use a small brush to paint the corners and where the wall meets with window, door frames or around wood fixtures. Paint at least two to three inches out from the corners or edges to make it easier to cover the wall when using a roller.
- 3). Paint the rest of the wall with a roller. Load the roller up with paint by rolling it in a paint tray. Have enough paint on the roller so it will apply to the wall, but not so much that it will drip excessively.
- 4). Work from one side of the trailer to the other, position the roller halfway up the wall and roll upward toward the ceiling and all the way to the floor. Observe how the paint is going onto the wall and use the roller to even out the paint. Roll at a diagonal and then up-and-down motion.
- 5). Repeat the process until the entire interior of the camper is painted. Allow the paint to dry for two to three hours and apply a second coat if needed.
