    Responsibilities

    • According to the Occupational Information Network, all types of financial examiners ensure and enforce compliance within laws and regulations of governing financial and securities institutions. Financial examiners verify the correctness and establish the authenticity of records. A CRA officer works specifically in community reinvestment.

    • According to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency created by Congress to charter national banks, CRA officers work in "federal insured depository institutions, national banks, thrifts and state-chartered commercial and savings banks."

    Education

    • According to Society of Financial Examiners, employers seek a bachelor's degree in a program or courses taken in accounting, finance or business law.

    Earnings

    • According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, financial examiners earned a national mean hourly wage of $34.49 and a national mean annual wage of $71,750 as of May 2009.

    Outlook

    • According to the National Employment Matrix from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for financial examiners is expected to increase much faster than average through 2018.
