In these short little articles I'm going to give you what I consider the hippest places to ring in the New Year.
But you'd better be ready to put on your traveling shoes because this list is going international, baby.
Of course, I am very prejudiced being a native born American, but coming in at number one on my list is Aspen, Colorado.
Aspen is teeming with delicious young snow bunnies this time of year and this famous resort town is a winter playground for them, Not only that, but if you are into celebrity watching you'll get all the top names from the Forbes 100 as well as many of the Hollywood elite! Coming in at a very close second is the quaint (right!) city of Barcelona, Spain.
Make certain not to miss your daily siesta because this town can party hardy, Marty! Seems like the Spanish don't even get going until 10:00 p.
m.
so be ready to stay up all night.
One cute tradition they have here is right at the stroke of midnight the Barcelonans cram 12 grapes in their gobs for 12 months of good luck for the coming year.
Next up is Bangkok, Thailand where you have three, count them three, chances to ring out the old and ring in the new! First, you obviously can celebrate our New Year on the night of December 31st.
Then, come the middle of February or so, you can celebrate Chinese New Year.
The Chinese calendar runs in a 12 year cycle.
As of this writing the coming year will be the year of the tiger (my daughter's year).
