How to Head an Essay Paper
- 1). Pages need to be set for double-spacing throughout the essay. Using Microsoft, click on the "Paragraph" menu (if you are using an version older than Windows 7, it may be on the "Format" menu), and choose the double-spacing option.
- 2). Click on the "View" menu, and click on the "Header" option. Then click on the right-align formatting icon. Type in your surname and click "Insert" and "Page#." This header will be consistent on every page.
- 3). Type the writer's name on the first line. Make sure this line is left-aligned.
- 4). Type the name of the recipient teacher or professor on the second line. Make sure this line is left-aligned.
- 5). Type the course for which the essay is written on the third line. Make sure this line is left-aligned.
- 6). Type the date the essay is submitted on the fourth line. Make sure this line is left-aligned.
- 7). Type the title of the essay on the fifth line. Center this line on the page.
