Feeling Overwhelmed
I wished I had a nickel ever time I felt overwhelmed and got bogged down with things that stop me from moving forward in life. I started a travel home-based business several months ago. I was looking for a part time business that I could supplement with my current full-time income and do when I'm ready to retire.
I wanted to find an online business that would work for me 24-7 but I only needed to put in part time hours. I had no computer skills but my gut was telling me this is where the future for business was going to be. I needed to learn how to position myself on the internet and decided to turn my passion for travel into an online business.
I met so many people, including myself that starve for information and spend all their time studding, buy training, attend webinars and have all the latest information and terminology. I'll ask the key questions. So how much money are you making? All I get back from them is weird facial expressions. After all, that is the purpose for starting a home based business.
Here are some principals' steps I use to keep my focus on the task at hand.
1. I realized that starting any legitimate business is not get rich quick. That it 's going to take time and effort.
2. You have to find a passion and system that you can believe in since you will be working hard and putting in the hours. With out the passion, you will not have the motivation to carry on.
3. You need to set long term and short term goals and look at them everyday when you wake up in the morning.
In my case, I had no computer skills or any experience in online marketing. I new I had to spend a certain amount of time each week learning these skills. However, not all my time. I knew the rest of my week I had to set action goals that would produce an income for me.
Here is my example. I needed to learn how to build a website and I spent part of the day going through step by step video instruction. Than I would take this information and put it to work by building my own web pages. I learned how to create traffic to my website and put the information to work. No traffic = No money. So once you gather your information, you must take an action step in reaching your goal.
If you had no skills, like me and was told you, you needed to build a 200 page website with 400 backend links to it before you start making money online would you do it? You would be so overwhelmed that you would get nothing accomplished.
But could you do it, if I said could you take 10 hrs of video step by step instruction a week for four weeks. After completion, you will have learned how to build a website. Could you build 4 web pages a week when it takes an average of 1 1/2 hours to build a page? This now becomes very do able.
Every time I get off track by all those e-mails, I have to remind myself if this action helps me accomplish my goal. Know when to say "No."
Good luck with reaching you goals.
