How to Use Slippery Elm Powder for Baby Powder
- 1). Wash a glass Parmesan cheese bottle, including the lid in hot soapy water. Rinse the bottle and lid thoroughly. Dry the bottle and lid completely with a clean towel.
- 2). Decide if you want to use straight Slippery Elm powder as a baby powder or if you want to dilute it with kaolin clay powder. Slippery Elm powder alone is an effective baby powder, but if you prefer a traditional looking baby powder, kaolin clay can be added. The addition of kaolin clay will dilute the brown color of the Slippery Elm, making the powder appear white or off-white in color.
- 3). Remove the lid from the Parmesan cheese container. Fill the bottle up with Slippery Elm powder if you want to make straight Slippery Elm baby powder. Slippery Elm powder is available in stores as a powder and in capsule form. If you purchased the capsule form, pull each capsule apart as you hold it over the Parmesan container. Pour the Slippery Elm powder from capsule into the jar.
If you want to use kaolin clay powder in your baby powder, fill the Parmesan cheese container 1/4 full with Slippery Elm powder and fill the remainder of the container up with kaolin clay. Use a spoon to stir the mixture.
Replace the lid onto the Parmesan cheese container. - 4). Sprinkle the Slippery Elm powder freely on your babies clean and dry skin as often as needed.
