How to Identify Pills Yourself
- 1). Record the pills information. Write down the size, shape, color, and any number or letters printed on the pill. If you are having trouble making out the writing on the pill or capsule, ask someone else to read it for you or use a magnified glass to assist you.
- 2). Head to WebMD.com. Click on the "Drugs & Supplements" tab followed by "Pill finder".
- 3). Enter the numbers or letter imprinted on the pill into the first field.
- 4). Select the shape of the pill to the best of your ability. They will give you 12 different preset choices to choose from which include 3 sided, 5 sided, 6 sided, 7 sided, 8 sided, diamond, oblong, other, rectangle, round, or square.
- 5). Select the color of your pill from the pull down tab and click "go".
Your search will result in a large list of possible matches. - 6). Search for a picture of possible candidates on the web. Since many pills share the same characteristics, you will usually have to do a little extra research by finding photos of the pills and eliminating certain drugs based on appearance.
