    • 1). Mix the repair filler as directed in a well-ventilated area. Follow the directions exactly -- failing to follow them properly can result in vastly extended drying times.

    • 2). Apply the repair filler to the chip(s) in question, taking care not to apply it onto undamaged sections of your deck. Wipe away any excess repair filler with a rag. Work the repair filler into place with your thumb or fingers so that it matches the contour of the deck. Let it dry overnight.

    • 3). Cut a small rectangle of grip tape. Peel off the adhesive backing and affix the grip tape to your finger. Shape the hardened repair filler with your finger by rubbing in all directions. Discard the grip tape when the repair filler is shaped to your satisfaction. Smooth it out by sanding it down with fine-grit sandpaper.

    • 4). Paint on glaze or stain over the chipped area and around it. Let it dry. Lightly sand the area with fine-grit sandpaper, and apply another coat of paint or stain. Paint and sand until the area matches the rest of the board.
