Who thought there would be tips on horses in regards to ulcers! Many people don't even think about these kinds of tips on horses because ulcers are thought of as a human problem. And it's not always easy to know if your horse has an ulcer. Some tips on horses are indicating that up to 90% of race horses have ulcers and sad enough 25% - 50% of foals and even 60% of our non-performance horses. These tips on horses are astonishing to me. What are we doing to our horses? So many things to take into consideration like stress levels, performance, lifestyle and drug history. I have taken many of the tips on horses and researched into them but the high starch diets and infrequent feedings are two that have really stood out for me. So many people still don't see the value in these tips on horses and continue to feed this kind of diet and feed only two times a day. Our horses are natural grazers and are meant to ingest small amounts of food throughout the day enabling the saliva flow to buffer stomach acid. These tips on horses are so very important because gastric HCL (stomach acid) continually secretes in our horses even when they are not eating. Scary to think how our horses must feel with that build up of acid. And here are some tips on horses to back this up: Researchers will actually fast a horse to induce ulcers! Oh and to help this along a little more the poor horse is stressing about his next meal.
I found these tips on horses invaluable when it came to my mare Ms. Winnie. This poor girl showed all the signs of a past of poor diet and infrequent feedings. It was pretty obvious when a month after buying her she coliced from a belly full of sand and I mean 150lbs worth of sand. Unfortunately these tips on horses were never read by the previous owners and they told me "Oh she always foams at the mouth when eating." I knew this wasn't right and her ravenous eating habits and stress level were something to be addressed. I knew then that all these tips on horses were pointing to a possibility of an ulcer. I also knew from some other great tips on horses many ulcers are actually caused by a deficiency of HCL so I had to be very cautious if I was going to give her an acid-suppressing drug. I even bought one to have but my heart was telling me otherwise. So I decided to pick from the array of tips on horses in regards to natural medicine and feed changes. We tried some different flower essence to help her deal with her internal stress which turned out to work very well for her. These tips on horses came from an equine nutritionist who also got me an organic herbal mixture just for ulcers. Winnie loved both the flower essence and the herbal mixture but was really upset over the introduction of a slow feeder hay bag. However I knew at this point that I had chosen the right tips on horses. It took her about 3 - 4 months to realize she wasn't going to starve with the slow feeder and now I even double bag which she is just fine with. She also didn't really like the tips on horses that put me in search of low sugar hay for her. But again she got use to it and is quite comfortable now with no foaming at the mouth. Ulcers in horses are real, and these tips on horses could mean a change to a very comfortable existence for your horse.
