How to Increase Your Iron Intake
- 1). Quit the caffeine habit. Caffeine will deplete you of iron. You may be tired at first but after a week you will have a lot more energy.
- 2). Drink orange juice. Vitamin c will help your body increase its absorption of iron. So when you are having a meal with lots of iron make sure to have fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, red bell peppers, and oranges that have lots of iron.
- 3). Eat more meat. You can get a lot of iron from vegetables and iron fortified cereal, but the iron found in meet absorbs a lot easier than the iron found in vegetables. So if you are a meet eater low on iron than increase your intake of meat.
- 4). Take a daily vitamin that has iron in it. You can also take the daily vitamin with a glass of orange juice that will give you more vitamin c.
