Traveling Europe is an eye-opening experience. With so much to see, it can be difficult to plan a trip that includes all of the main attractions. Cruises often allow tourists to see the most in the least amount of time. They combine transportation, accommodations and entertainment. Aside from the cruise ship itself, the ports are full of different experiences and give travelers a taste of several cultures. - There are many cruise lines that offer travelers the opportunity to visit European countries nestling the coasts of seas such as the Mediterranean and Baltic. Some of the European ports of call include Barcelona, Genoa, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Kiel. Each ship offers a variety of dining and entertainment options to choose from and most staff members are fluent in several languages such as Italian, Spanish, German and English. Although each ship's itinerary differs, many seven day cruises visit between three and five countries with one or two days at sea, allowing guests the opportunity to enjoy on and off board activities alike.
- Palma de Mallorca is located in the Balearic Islands and is a part of the country of Spain. The city is filled with historical landmarks including the La Seu cathedral, Bellver Castle, and La Almudaina palace. Cruisers fortunate enough to stop at this port will have the opportunity to visit some of the many beaches that line the coast, take a horse drawn carriage ride through the streets, and shop for paintings created by local artists.
- Copenhagen is often lined with jazz musicians, bicyclists and tourists. The Hop On Hop Off bus tours and canal tours give travelers a 360 degree view of the city. Along the tours, views of the Tivoli Gardens and the Little Mermaid can be seen. Canal tours are conducted in several languages including Danish, English and German. Hop On Hop Off bus tours allow travelers to get off the bus at each stop and explore on their own before moving on to the next destination. A must-see site while visiting Copenhagen is Ice Bar, which maintains below freezing temperatures in order to keep the ice drink glasses, ice furniture and ice walls from melting. The cover charge includes entry into the bar, a drink wristband valid for either one or two drinks and a heavy parka and mittens. Drinks are served in large ice cube-shaped glasses with the center bored out to accommodate the beverage.
