How to Operate a Riding Lawn Mower
- 1). Read the manufacturer's operating manual.
- 2). Clear the work area of sticks, stones and other things that could be thrown by the blades.
- 3). Be sure you have enough daylight left to finish the job.
- 4). Disengage the clutch and shift the mower into neutral before starting the engine.
- 5). Set the mower at the highest cutting point to use it on uneven ground.
- 6). Mow up and down slopes, not sideways.
- 7). Reduce speed on slopes and when turning sharply.
- 8). Watch for rocks and holes.
- 9). Replace worn grass-catcher bags.
