If your in a depression because of a break up, you need to help yourself get out of it. There's a number of ways to go about it that will get you back to your normal life.
The first thing you need to do is try to focus on your the way your life is going to be better than it was. There's a good chance that the partner you were involved with has moved on with their life, and you have to do the same. There is more emotion that comes from a break up than most people realize, until it happens. Then it feels like the sky is falling. You think your world has come to an end. Well, think of it as a new beginning, not an end.
Time to get yourself going in a new direction, a better life is just starting. You probably haven't been happy for some time, so depression could have set in for some time. Time to snap out of it. So lets begin with the hardest part. Get yourself up and dressed, call a friend or relative and go out. It doesn't matter where you go or what you do. Just don't be alone, and this is so very important.
You have to get your mind off your bad or broken relationship, and do something that you would never do with your ex. Do something you enjoy for yourself, and don't try to please anyone, but you. You have to feel good about yourself, and your the only one that can do that. You don't need to spend money or go on a shopping spree, many times just a walk in a park or down the street window shopping will do.
You just have to get active and moving, think pleasant thoughts, and don't even try to get into another relationship, at this time. Any relationship you were to get into now will only be a rebound relationship, and most don't last. Whats worst it that you can't help but to compare your ex with your new partner, and the depression pain will just linger. Remember time heals all wounds, and your depression will be a distant past before long.
