How to Remember the Books of the Bible

    • 1). Divide the books of the Bible into major groups such as the Gospels, the major Prophets, the minor Prophets and the Epistles. If you prefer to group them a certain way, do so; you can organize the books in a way that makes sense to you. Once you have the books in one group memorized completely, string the next group along until you have both groups memorized and continue until you have all the books memorized.

    • 2). Sing the names of the books to the tune of a popular song. This helps to embed the books in your memory since no one forgets a good tune.

    • 3). "Overlearn" the books. Make yourself completely familiar with the list of books by repeating the list again and again until you feel comfortable repeating them without looking.

    • 4). Take a chalkboard or erasable board and list the books on the board.

    • 5). Say the names of each book on the board and erase one book after you are finished. If you begin to miss some of the books, start the process all over again until you can say the whole list of books without anything written on the board.
