Caterpillar Diesel Generator Operating Standards

104 7

    Start Sequence

    • Once the generator is set to "run," operators may attempt to start the generator. If the generator does not start after three attempts, the start sequence should be stopped and the generator inspected for damage or other maintenance issues.

    Loads

    • The operator is responsible for ensuring that the generator's load -- the amount of energy it is required to supply -- is less than the load capacity of the genset, or the combination of the generator's load capacity and that of the engine. He must also ensure that the load bus is disconnected from utility sources.

    Controls

    • The operator must use all of the generator's displays and controls in order to ensure safe and efficient use. These displays and controls include an LCD graphical display, a red LED indicator (danger), an amber LED indicator (warning), display navigation keys, a lamp test key and an alarm acknowledgement key.
