How to Word an Invitation for a Beach Wedding
- 1). Indicate the seaside theme. Phrases such as "Please join us next to the sea as we prepare for our lives together." or "We're building sand castles together!" would be appropriate.
- 2). Use formal language to indicate who is being married and when. First, middle and last names of the bride and groom should be used, along with the formal names of who is hosting the wedding. This may be one set of parents, both sets of parents or the couple themselves. Spell out the date, such as "May eighth, two thousand and ten."
- 3). Explain the location of the beach wedding in a casual, yet formal way. "Vows will be exchanged on Pier 31, Anytown, California" or "Ceremony will be held under the palms on Sunset Beach in Anytown, Florida." are enough details on the invitation itself. Use a separate invitation insert for specific location instructions.
- 4). Let guests know where the reception will be held. If the beach wedding is followed by a same-site reception, simply state, "A seaside reception dinner will be held immediately following the ceremony." Once they arrive, guests will notice the huge tent or tables set up and know where to go.
- 5). Use the full address for a non-beach reception site. If a dinner and dance will be held at a restaurant, hall or ballroom list the formal name of the building, the street address, city and state. Indicate the time the reception will begin, so guests traveling between the beach and the reception site know if they have time to linger at the beach.
