How to Tell If a Wound has Opened Again
- 1). Look for swelling at the site of the wound. If it is swollen, it may have become infected and if it is infected, it may have reopened. Another sign of infection is a high body temperature.
- 2). Look for pus at the site of the wound. It may be thick, creamy or even grayish in color. If your wound exudes pus, the site may have reopened and become infected.
- 3). Check to see it the wound is bleeding.
- 4). Examine the area to see if the skin around the wound has separated.
- 5). Consult your physician and talk to her about what you have observed. If she confirms the wound is getting worse, make an appointment for speedy care.
