Many people like cars, especially kids. Having a party with a car's theme and activities to go along with this theme can be a lot of fun for everyone involved. You can make the car activities appeal to a wide age range. Remember, the emphasis is on fun and creativity, not who can be the best. - The first step in getting ready for a car-themed activity party is to make a clever invitation that entices the receiver to want to come to the party. Here are directions on how to make a tire invitation.
First, draw a five-inch circle on a piece of cardboard to use as a template. Next, cut the cardboard circle straight across the top and the bottom creating a tire shape that is about four inches tall. Now, fold an 8 1/2- by-11-inch sheet of black construction paper. Trace the template onto the paper so that one of the flat edges is on the top fold. Cut out the tire shape. You will get two invitations from each sheet of black construction paper.
Cut out an oval hubcap that is about two inches wide and three inches tall from a piece of yellow paper. Glue each onto the tire slightly left of center.
On a three-inch square sheet of paper, write all the specifics of the party. Glue this onto the bottom of inside of the invitation.
Alternately you can by premade invitations or find one online that you can use. - Start with this activity because it requires a lot of movement. The participants will be able to sit still longer if you start with a movement activity. You will need to prepare a car for each team. To do this, you will need a cardboard box, paint, aluminum foil, and tape. Cut the top and bottom flaps off the box. Cut a hole on each side so the participant has something to hold onto. Paint the box any way you want, putting a different number on each box. Add aluminum foil pieces, to look like a car grill, to the front of the box if you like.
At race time, the first member from each team puts on a helmet and goggles if you wish. Then he steps into his team's car. On the word "go," each person in the car runs around the designated track .When he is finished, he gives the goggles and helmet to the next person. After this person puts these items on and gets into his team's car, he races around the track. The race goes on this way until every member of one team finishes running the track first. They are the winners of the game. - Pass out a large picture of a car outline to each participant. Give each person some colorful stickers and magic markers as well. Now have them decorate their cars. Give out prizes. If you like, you can give each person who decorated a car a prize. Be creative thinking up prize categories. You may want to do this ahead of time. Some examples of categories are: most colorful, car with the most green or another color, car with the most stickers, or wildest car.
- Use one of the cars from the last activity, or have another large car picture with one wheel that has a circle around it. Attach the car to a large piece of cardboard. The players must attach their wheel to the wheel you have circled. Give each participant a paper plate with a piece of tape on it. When it is his turn, blindfold him and spin him around a few times. Now direct the player to put the wheel on the car. The individual coming closest to the circled wheel wins.
- Hide a box filled with new small cars somewhere in the house or yard if you are doing this activity outside. Put a large sign with the word "cars" on top of the box.
Tell the participants to find the cars by using clues about cars. An example of a clue might be, "Drive to the den to find the next clue." Each clue should tell people where the next clue is. When the box is found, each participant gets to choose a car from the box.
