    • 1). Fill one side of the sink with water and some mild soap.

    • 2). Fill the other side of the sink or bucket with fresh, clean water.

    • 3). Put the ostrich feathers into the soapy water, fully submerged.

    • 4). Twirl the feathers around until most of the dust is off. You will know this because the water will turn a darker color.

    • 5). Switch to the clear water. Repeat the same process in the clear water.

    • 6). Run cool water over the feathers until the water runs clean of soap and dust.

    • 7). Shake vigorously outside to remove as much moisture as possible.

    • 8). Set the handle in the empty soda bottle, feathers up, to finish drying.
