I'm tempted to say Jake Gyllenhaal was completely CGI-ed in this film because it was based on a video game and the whole film felt totally fake. Gyllenhaal's abs were as much a part of the scenery as the desert and looked just about as real. But apparently he worked out and they are as real as anything in a Hollywood film. Who'd have thought that the introverted Donnie Darko would have a hard body lurking under that loose-fitting sweatshirt? Gyllenhaal disrobed more fully for Jarhead a few years prior, but that was a serious film with Gyllenhaal's hard body as a bonus feature. 9. Chris Evans - 'The Losers' (2010)

Chris Evans humorously brings out the big guns in this comic book adaptation that uses him as eye candy more overtly than his starring role as Captain America did. In fact, in Captain America he underwent CGI transformation to look like a pathetic weakling who always gets knocked out in a fight. His hot bod was also put to good use in another comic book film, Fantastic Four. 8. Ryan Reynolds - 'Blade Trinity' (2004) and 'The Amityville Horror' (2005)

Ryan Reynolds' abs are his best feature and a distinct selling point in both of these films. In Blade Trinity, he's all jacked up on testosterone and tries to out-wisecrack Wesley Snipes. In The Amityville Horror, he emerges from a bathtub like Adonis and most of the women forgot about any of the haunted horrors. He got a lot of ribbing for his CGI abs in the Green Lantern film. He manages to mix high-octane action with eye candy in a fight where he strips to the waist and rolls around in oil to provide a slippery combatant. His fight choreography proves to be as sexy as any dance move Patrick Swayze could come up with. Patrick Swayze matured a little and got to play the bad guy to Keanu Reeves' surfing FBI agent. Reeves generally stays clothed in his films but still relies more on looks than acting talent to get by. When posed properly and required to say little more than, "Whoa," he's easy on the eyes.More »

4. Patrick Swayze - 'Dirty Dancing' (1987)

This film was designed to make young girls swoon over Patrick Swayze. Like Twilight, the film presents a bad boy but one that's PG-13 safe. No explicit sex or nudity, but Swayze wears skintight black clothes (that specifically highlight his cute ass), and he has all the right moves. In fact, the recent film Crazy Stupid Love had Ryan Gosling (of the "Photoshopped" abs) use one of Swayze's dance moves to get women into bed.More »

3. Marc Singer - 'The Beastmaster' (1982)

Don (Phantasm) Coscarelli's sword and sorcery film required Marc Singer to wear little more than a loincloth, which meant his well-oiled abs and pecs were on constant display. You might not guess from all this silliness that Singer was also a classically trained actor who has performed Shakespeare. In fact, he provided both eye candy and a rollicking good performance as Petruchio in the American Conservatory Theater's filmed production of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, proving that abs do not interfere with delivering perfect iambic pentameter.

2. Harry Hamlin - 'Clash of the Titans' (1981)

Greek myths mean men in short skirts, and the perfect attire to showcase some male eye candy like Harry Hamlin. Hamlin plays Perseus and his then lover Ursula Andress plays Aphrodite. The following year he would play Michael Ontkean's lover in Making Love, a tepid but still groundbreaking Hollywood film about homosexuality. Again he got to display plenty of skin and sexy charm.

1. Richard Gere - 'American Gigolo' (1980)

Famously baring all in Paul Schrader's film about a high-end male hustler, Richard Gere may have typecast himself as an actor with a penchant for playing sexually charged roles. Gere is considered the first major Hollywood actor to display full frontal nudity in a mainstream film, and damn he looked hot both in and out of his Armani suits. Trivia: Gere and the film helped put Armani on the Hollywood fashion map.

Bonus Picks: Ensemble Eye Candy

You won't find more tanned and oiled six packs outside of gay porn than you do in Troy (2004) and 300 (2006). Brad Pitt was like a bronze statue glistening in the sun as Achilles in Troy. Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean, and Garrett Hedlund beefed up the cast and benefited from the micro-mini skirts and revealing robes that were fashionable in ancient Greece. 300 upped the ante with even more perfectly toned bodies of fighting-ready Spartans led by Gerard Butler. The entire cast wore little more than leather Speedos and I've heard rumors that their was no CGI on the abs (just some air brushing) but plenty of CGI work on things that kept slipping out from the skimpy costumes.
