Cornwall Is Named Top UK Destination Again
For the second consecutive year running Cornwall has been voted the "Best United Kingdom Holiday County or Region" by the British Travel Awards and this marks three wins in the last five years for Cornwall as a top travel destination.
Over 222,000 people took part in the voting process this year, with categories that spanned more than seventy different categories and included several different holiday adventures.
This makes the British Travel Awards one of the most expansive awards programs in the UK.
Runners up this year included Devon, which is east of Cornwall and Cumbria which contains the Lake District.
Additionally, St.
Ives was named the "Best UK Day Out Experience".

Malcolm Bell, the Head of Tourism at the Cornwall Development Company, VisitCornwall, accepted the award on behalf of Cornwall and St.
Ives.
The prestigious ceremony was held in Battersea Park, South West London at Battersea Evolution.
Bell commented on the fact that these awards are based on the travel buying public's opinion, makes them even more significant.
He further stated how proud Cornwall's Board of Tourism was to receive an award three times in the last five years from the BTA and finally he elaborated on the credibility and significant leverage that winning such a prestigious national award gives to the promotion of Cornwall and St.
Ives as top destinations for tourism.
