Flowers Will Brighten Up Any Occasion

Many flowers from different farms all over the world find their way into the Massachusetts market through importers and wholesale buyers. These dealers then distribute the flowers to the retail florists in malls or neighborhood shops.

Retail florists are usually located within one district of the city, the one nearest to the dealer or ports. And many are located several miles away. Sometimes close distances to the sources ensure the freshness of the flowers and lessen the cost of transport and risk of damage and spoilage.

Quicker transportation, improved logistical infrastructures for importing and exporting goods, and the growing diversity of tastes and preferences of those who populate cities, more exotic and hard-to-come-by flowers are being made available in most retail florists. Competition among these florists has also encouraged each one to offer specializations and expertise.

Some florists hold diploma courses in design and boast of awards won in national and international competitions in flower arrangements. This has led to the creation of various flower arrangements available for the customers to choose from.

Selling floral arrangements has become a lucrative business as people are finding more reasons and occasions to use flowers in Marblehead. Some retail florists have transformed their businesses and gone to the next level by branding their products. They sell what are known as designer blooms. These retail florists have branches or franchises across the country, and even in other parts of the world.

Giving flowers is not the cheapest way to express your feelings or convey a message, but it is the best way! Flower House Marblehead has given the area a wonderful alternative to get some great floral arrangements.

Flowers and bouquets of flowers have a meaning of their own. Most of us know that a dozen red roses means, "Be mine." But did you know, for example, that a primrose means, "I can't live without you," or that a purple hyacinth means, "Please forgive me," or that a pink carnation means, "I'll never forget you," or that a gladiolus means, "Give me a break?"

Flower meanings have been used to convey ideas, feelings and messages for centuries. The word, floriography, has been coined for the assignment of meaning to flowers. There is a meaning to colors of flowers, to numbers of flowers, and to groups of flowers. It is a silent language that has been largely lost to us through lack of use.
In addition to the obvious choices of color and variety, the language of flowers also includes the way flowers are worn or presented.

Presenting flowers upright conveys a positive meaning, but if they are presented upside down the meaning is the opposite. If a ribbon is included with the flowers and is tied to the left then the meaning of the flowers refers to the giver, but if the ribbon is tied to the right then the meaning refers to the recipient. Also, flowers can be used to answer questions. When they are presented with the right hand the answer is "yes," but when presented with the left hand the answer is "no."
