How to Do a Bicycle Track Stand
- 1). Find an open area free of debris to practice. Freewheel bicyclists should look for an area with a very slight grade or incline, while fixed gear cyclists should choose a flat place to practice.
- 2). Ride your bike in a slow circle to establish balance.
- 3). Come to a slow stop, turning your wheel at a 45 degree angle to the back of the bike, standing on your pedals with your dominant foot forward. Freewheel cyclists should come to a stop facing uphill.
- 4). Rock the bike backward and forward to maintain balance, continuing to stand on the pedals. Freewheel cyclists can use the slope of the ground to rock the bike backward, while fixed gear cyclists can simply pedal backwards.
- 5). Continue practicing until you can perform a track stand for long periods of time.
