The Threat Of Bed Bugs

For most of us the old saying, "Sleep tight.
Don't let the bed bugs bite," used to be just a cute but antiquated poem and not an actual warning to take seriously.
But with infestations of pest bugs sweeping across the country, it seems more relevant than ever.
Recently reports of cases of infestations have been all over the news, anywhere from New York City to California.
No one is sure of the cause but the bugs, which most people aren't used to dealing with, have suddenly become a real threat and nuisance to everyone, whether rich or poor.
It's understandable why there would be such unwelcome houseguests.
One major reason is that they feed on the blood of humans and animals.
Not exactly a creature you want roaming free in your home.
Also, another problem with it is that their bite causes severe rashes and itching.
Bed bugs are tiny parasitic insects that feed on the blood of their host.
Because they prefer a warm environment and a docile host, the bed of a human is the perfect home.
They can detect their hosts by the carbon dioxide and warmth give off by the host.
Although they are perfectly capable of being active during the day, they are most often active at night because it's the easiest time to feed.
One inaccurate belief is that an infestation is an indicator of the sanitary conditions.
They will live anywhere there is a food source, whether a high-end hotel or a slum.
Bed bugs should be eradicated by an experienced exterminator.
