How to Fix Sticky Clarinet Pads
- 1). Tighten the clarinet’s key springs. Often, keys lacking in spring strength can stick. A professional clarinet repair person can do this for you.
- 2). Slip a piece of cigarette paper under the key, between the pad and the tone hole (hole opening), and press the key lightly. Move on to the next key. Doing this removes excess moisture and build-up from the pads.
- 3). Dab lighter fluid onto the pads using a cotton swab. Rub the area until the buildup has been removed.
